MOP & POLISHED SEASHELLS and chocolate sea shell
(MOTHER-OF-PEARL)
What is a chocolate sea shell? For all our craft
customers, artists, mosaicists and jewellers, we do
have a wide range of interesting MOP options. You can
cut, grind, file, drill or glue this material using
standard jeweller's tools. Due to the increasing
demand, we have now also added a range of POLISHED
SEASHELLS to our range. Scroll down to take a look!
PEARL SHELLS are individual pearl oyster halves from
the pearl farms in North-Western Australia. Pinctada
maxima produce the famous cultured South Sea Pearls
and are approx. 15cm (6") or more in diameter, with
beautiful white and shiny MOP (mother-of-pearl)
inside. The rough natural outer surface and brittle
lips are often trimmed back to avoid cracking. Besides
being much in demand for shell displays, the MOP is a
source material for inlay and other craft work, for
instrument makers, mosaicists, etc. If you indicate
that you need these shells for a particular purpose,
we will select accordingly. Large matched halves are
also available as specimen shells, read more about
